EMERGENCY ORDER *UPDATE*
As of December 29, 2025 the Emergency Order signed by the Board of Pharmacy and Secretary of State has expired. A pharmacy holding a Delaware permit can no longer employ pharmacists who are not licensed in Delaware to practice pharmacy.
STANDING ORDER FOR ADMINISTRATION OF COVID-19 VACCINE
Below you will find the standing order on COVID-19 vaccine eligibility, issued by Governor Matt Meyer and the Delaware Division of Public Health. The Delaware Board of Pharmacy fully supports this standing order, and we encourage all licensees to review it carefully to ensure alignment with current protocols.
Objective and Function
The primary objective of the Delaware Board of Pharmacy is to promote, preserve, and protect the public health, safety, and welfare. To meet this objective, the Board
- maintains a registry of drug outlets that manufacture, produce, sell, and distribute drugs, medications, and other materials used to diagnose and prevent illness and disease and to treat injury
- monitors the outlets to ensure safe practices
- develops standards for professional competency
- promulgates rules and regulations
- adjudicates complaints against professionals and, when necessary, imposes disciplinary sanctions.
The Board issues licenses to pharmacists and pharmacy interns. It also licenses pharmacies (both in Delaware and elsewhere), pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors, medical gas dispensers and retail businesses that sell non-controlled prescription drugs for veterinary use.
The Board’s statutory authority is in 24 Del. C., Chapter 25.
Meetings
Unless notified otherwise, the Board meets the third Wednesday of every month, with the exception of July and December. All meetings are open to the general public and are held in the Cannon Building, 861 Silver Lake Boulevard, in Dover. The meeting schedule is available at the State of Delaware public meeting calendar.
The Board/Commission may need to review and approve your application for licensure and will only review a complete application. A complete application includes your application and any documentation submitted through DELPROS and/or any documents submitted through the mail or email from third-parties. The Board/Commission will review your documentation at its next scheduled meeting.
