How to apply for a license by reciprocity

• Signed and notarized application, along with the appropriate pro-rated fee. Check or money order must be made payable to the "State of Delaware."
• Verification of licensure in good standing from the state(s) in which the applicant is currently or has ever been licensed and an "Affidavit and Release of Information"
• Notarized affidavit affirming that applicant meets the qualifications as stated in 24 Delaware Code, Chapter 30, Section 3032(a) (3) through (6)
• Verification of certification from the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Academy of Clinical Mental Health Counselors (ACMHC), or other national mental health specialty acceptable to the Board.

If an applicant has practiced in good standing for five (5) years in the other jurisdiction, no further documentation is needed. However, if the applicant has been licensed less than five (5) years, the applicant must submit copies of the other jurisdiction’s licensing statute and rules and regulations for the Board to review to determine if the other jurisdiction’s statute/rules and regulations are substantially similar to those of Delaware. If the licensure requirements are not substantially similar, the applicant may apply for the LACMH license.
