New License


How to apply for a new (or initial) license

If applying for the Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional (LCDP) by certification, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Signed and notarized application, along with the appropriate pro-rated fee. Check or money order must be made payable to the "State of Delaware." An application can be obtained from this web site or by contacting the Board office.


  • Official transcript showing completed Masters Degree which documents 30 graduate semester hours in counseling sent directly to the Board office.


  • Professional counseling experience consisting of not less than 3,200 hours over a period of not more than four (4) years, at least 1,600 hours of which must have been under professional direct supervision acceptable to the Board.


  • Verification of certification from the National Association for Addictions Professionals (NAADAC) as a National Certified Addictions Counselor (NCAC or MAC), or by the Delaware Certification Board (DCB Inc.) as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or by any other certifying organization acceptable to the Board.
