Tamper-Resistant Prescription Deadline: The deadline for starting to use tamper-resistant prescription forms is March 1, 2012. Starting with prescriptions written on or after March 1, Delaware pharmacies will not dispense if the prescription forms do not comply with tamper-resistant prescription requirements. For more information, click: Deadline for Tamper-Resistant Prescriptions PDF logo.

DESCRIPTION:  The purpose of tamper-resistant prescription forms is to reduce prescription fraud. The Division of Professional Regulation ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for tamper-resistant prescriptions by

  • registering vendors that manufacture and sell tamper-resistant prescription forms for use by Delaware healthcare practitioners
  • maintaining a Provider Verification System (PVS) that enables vendors to assure that only licensed healthcare providers and authorized institutions are permitted to purchase prescription forms.

The statutes governing tamper-resistant prescription forms are 29 Del. C. §8735 and 16 Del. C. §4797.
