License Renewal

Information about All Renewals

Licenses expire on January 31 of odd years (e.g., 2011, 2013).

Several weeks before your license expiration date, a renewal notice will be mailed to the address on your record. This notice will explain how to access the online renewal application. To complete the online renewal application, you must use a credit card to pay your renewal fee.

Please keep your contact information in our records up-to-date so that notices we send will reach you.  To check and update your contact information online, click Change Contact Information.

How to Renew an Active License

To renew a license in Active status, you will be asked to attest to completing the required continuing education (CE). See Section 7.0 of the Board's Rules and Regulations. After the renewal, a percentage of licensees will be randomly selected for audit of their CE.

Note: Please do not send any CE logs or other documentation to the Board office unless you are requested to do so. Also, do not send any payment if you renew online.

How to Renew an Inactive License

You will be able to renew a license that is in Inactive status online. Completing the renewal application will continue your license in Inactive status for two years. You will not be required to pay a renewal fee nor attest to completing CE.

You will not be able to reactivate an Inactive license online. If you wish to return your license to Active status so that you can practice in Delaware, contact the Board office for instructions.

How to Renew a Lapsed License

If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will lapse. It is illegal to practice while your license is lapsed.

You may renew a license for a period of one year after the expiration date by submitting a renewal application online, paying a late fee, and attesting to completion of the required CE. However, if the license has been lapsed for more than one year but less than five years, you must apply for reinstatement following Section 11.0 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations. If your license has been lapsed for over five years, you must reapply as a new applicant or by reciprocity.
