Information About Renewal Applications for All Licenses

Occupational Therapy license expire on July 31 of even years (e.g., 2012, 2014).

Several weeks before your license expiration date, a renewal notice will be mailed to the address on your record. This notice will explain how to access the online renewal application. To complete the online renewal application, you must use a credit card to pay your renewal fee.

Please keep your contact information in our records up-to-date so that notices we send will reach you.  To check and update your contact information online, click Change Contact Information.

To renew your license, you will be required to attest to completing the required continuing education (CE). For information on CE requirements, refer to Section 3.0 of the Board's Rules and Regulations.

How to Request Inactive Status and Reactivate

If you are not actively practicing in Delaware, you may submit a written request to place your license on inactive status to the Board office.

To reactivate an inactive license, submit the following to the Board office:

  • Letter requesting reactivation
  • Completed paper renewal application
  • Proof of 20 contact hours of CE completed within the past two years. The CE must comply with Section 3.0 of the Rules and Regulations
  • Fee payment by check or money order payable to the "State of Delaware."

How to Renew an Expired License

If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will expire. It is illegal to practice while your license is expired.

You may renew an expired license for a period of three years after the expiration date by submitting a renewal application online and paying a late fee. You will also be required to attest to completing the required CE within the previous two years. However, if the license has been expired for more than three years, you must reapply as a new applicant or by reciprocity.
