Applying for a Temporary Administrator License
**AS OF JANUARY 5, 2008 ALL APPLICANTS FOR ORIGINAL, RECIPROCAL OR TEMPORARY LICENSE WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK**
The Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators may grant a temporary administrator license in the event that a facility’s licensed nursing home administrator is removed from the position by death or other unexpected cause.
The owner, governing body or appropriate authority of the nursing home must submit:
- Completed, signed and notarized application to the Board's office, along with the appropriate pro-rated fee. Check or money order should be made payable to the "State of Delaware".
- A clear statement that the individual, who will be the designated temporary administrator, understands that the temporary license:
- Will expire 90 days after the date of issuance
- May only be renewed once for an additional 90 days
- And that he or she is not eligible for a subsequent temporary license within the 12 months immediately following its expiration
- An affidavit from the individual that he or she has three years of health care management experience. (Last page of application form).
- Verification that the individual holds either a degree in any field from an accredited college or university or holds a current Delaware license as a RN.
- Official college transcripts to be sent directly to the Board office from the educational institution.
- Official Criminal History Background Check from the State Bureau of Identification (SBI) or a statement from the SBI that the State Central Repository contains no such information relating to the applicant.**
- Official report of entire federal criminal history record pursuant to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of Title II of Public Law 92-544.**
- Responses to Section 4: Occupational Background and Section 5: Administrative Background of the application form.
When all the required documents have been received by the Board, the application will be placed on the agenda for the next scheduled meeting. The completed application and all requirements must be received at least two (3) business days prior to the next Board meeting. |
