Question: How do I become approved for the Administrator-In-Training (AIT) program?

Answer: An applicant must submit an application for licensure to the Board, along with a letter from the preceptor(s) and the AIT outline for each preceptor. When all necessary supporting documentation such as college transcripts and occupational and administrative background information has been received, the application will be considered by the Board. The applicant will be notified whether the AIT program, preceptor(s), and outline(s) have been approved. AIT programs are approved in intervals of six months, nine months, or twelve months.

Question: How do I become approved to sit for the exam?

Answer: After an applicant has successfully completed the AIT program and completed a Board approved course of study or possesses experience acceptable to the Board, the Board will grant approval for an applicant to sit for the exam. A listing of the approved 100 hour courses is available on the Board's website. The Nursing Home Administrators Licensing Examination is administered by the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators. See www.nabweb.org for more information.

Answer: An application for an Acting Administrator must be completed and submitted to the Board for approval. Applications may be requested from the Board's office. The proposed Acting Administrator must meet certain qualifications. Approval may be granted for a period of up to 9 months. A facility may only have one acting administrator approval within a 12 month period.
