Information About Renewal Applications

Several weeks before your license expiration date, a renewal notice will be mailed to the address on your record. This notice will explain how to access the online renewal application. To complete the online renewal application, you must use a credit card to pay your renewal fee. The notice will also explain how to request a paper renewal application if you are unable to renew online.

Online renewal is not available for ACGME Training licenses.

Renewal of Licensure for Respiratory Care Practitioners

Respiratory Care licenses expire on November 30 of even-numbered years (2006, 2008, etc.). If you fail to renew by the expired date, see How to Renew an Expired License below.

To renew, you must certify that you have completed Continuing Medical Education (CME) required by the RCPAC Rules and Regulations. A percentage of licensees will be randomly selected for audit of their CME following the renewal.

Renewal of Licensure for Physicians and Physician Assistants

Physician and Physician Assistant licenses expire on March 31of odd-numbered years (2007, 2009, etc.). If you fail to renew by the expiration date, see How to Renew an Expired License below.

You must certify that you have completed Continuing Medical Education (CME) required by the BOMP Rules and Regulations. A percentage of licensees will be randomly selected for audit of their CME following the renewal.

Note : To renew a controlled substance license, you must file a separate application with the Delaware Office of Controlled Substances.

Renewal of ACGME Training Licensure

ACGME Training licenses expire on March 31 of each year. Online renewal is not available for ACGME Training licenses. A paper renewal application will be sent to your address of record several weeks before the expiration date. This will be your only notice.

How to Renew an Expired License

If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will expire. It is illegal to practice while your license is expired.

Physicians and Physician Assistants may renew a license for a period of six months after the expiration date by submitting a renewal application and paying a late fee. The renewal application will be available online. However, if the license has been expired for more than six months, you must reapply.

Respiratory Care Practitioners may renew a license for a period of three years after the expiration date by submitting a renewal application and paying a late fee. The renewal application will be available online. If the license has been expired more than three years, you must reapply. See Section 8.6 of the RCPAC Rules and Regulations.
