The Governor’s Magistrate Screening Committee is seeking individuals who are interested in being considered for possible appointment as Justices of the Peace.  A Justice of the Peace is a full-time position that entails 8-hour rotating shifts to handle arraignments and other court proceedings on a 24-hour-day basis, including weekends and holidays.  The initial term is four years and the starting annual salary is $70,750. Each Justice of the Peace shall serve in the county in which the Justice resides.

Applicants must submit a completed application, questionnaire and resume at the below address with a postmark no later than August 14, 2009.  A fee of $80 by check or money order, made payable to the State of Delaware must accompany each application.

Applicant Requirements: Take a written examination; obtain criminal background check for candidates considered for an interview at his/her own expense.  The minimum age is 25 and must reside in Delaware.  All prior applicants must re-apply.
