Applicants for a new license must take the NCEES Principles and Practices of Surveyors and Fundamentals of Surveying Examinations. For details about the exam, see www.ncees.org. Applicants must also take the Delaware State Drainage Examination. For instructions on applying for the examinations, see New License.

Applicants for a license by reciprocity must take the Delaware State Drainage Examination. For instructions on applying by reciprocity, see License by Reciprocity.

The Division of Professional Regulation offers the examinations above in April and October. The application, all required documentation and the appropriate pro-rated processing fee must be received no later than 60 days before the examination date. The Board of Professional Land Surveyors will review the application at its next scheduled meeting. If the applicant is approved to sit for the examination(s), the Board office will notify the applicant of the exam date(s) and the examination fee due.
