Department of State: Division of Professional Regulation: Board of Geologists

Renewal of License

2006 Renewal Information

The license period expires on September 30th of even-numbered years (2006, 2008, etc.). To maintain your license in active status, you must renew it by the expiration date.

Effective with your 2006 renewal, the Division of Professional Regulation offers online renewal with the use of a major credit card. You will receive a notice the first week of July to advise you when your renewal application is available for submission online. This will be your only renewal notice. The notice will explain how to access online renewal and how to request a paper renewal application if you are unable to renew online.

To renew an active license, you will need to provide information about your continuing education (CE) and geology seal. Please note that CE reporting forms are not required. However, a percentage of licensees will be randomly selected for audit of their CE following the renewal. The continuing education requirements are explained in the Board’s Rules and Regulations, Section 6.0.

How to Renew an Expired License

If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will expire. It is illegal to practice geology while your license is expired.

You may renew a license for a period of one year after the expiration date by submitting a renewal application and paying a late fee. The renewal application will be available online. However, if the license has been expired for more than one year, you must reapply.
