How to Apply to Sit for the ASBOG FG Exam


Fundamentals of Geology (FG) Exam

The (FG) exam is designed and recommended to be taken soon after college graduation, however, it can be taken on any given test date . There is no work experience required to take FG exam.

How to Apply to Sit for the ASBOG FG Exam

Note: Applicants for licensure through reciprocity, who were licensed in another jurisdiction prior to June 17, 1998, do not need to submit proof of ASBOG exam scores.

If you are taking only the ASBOG FG portion, please submit:
  • Completed, signed and notarized Application for ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology Exam (FG) form .
  • Official transcript sent directly to the Board office from an accredited college/university indicating that you received a degree in geology or has completed 30 credit hours of geology or its sub-disciplines, of which 24 credits are third or fourth year courses or graduate courses.

After the application has been reviewed and approved by the Board, you will be notified in writing of the approval to sit for the exam. The notification will include what fee to submit, and information regarding the examination.

See Fee Schedule for the examination fees. The examination is held two times per year. The schedule for 2008 is March 7 and October 3. The examination will be held in the Cannon Building, 861 Silver Lake Blvd, Dover, Delaware.

The Board office will mail your exam scores approximately two months after the exam date. For information about the ASBOG exams, log on www.asbog.org.
