How to apply for a new license by examination

• Submit a complete and notarized application and pro-rated fee made payable to "State of Delaware."
• Submit proof of six years full-time experience under the supervision of a licensed master electrician. Proof of experience consists of the Verification of Employment form. If an applicant cannot obtain the required form from the supervising licensed electrician, tax form W-2 showing full-time employment may be substituted at the discretion of the Board. Also, include a letter of explanation as to why the form is not obtainable.

• Eight thousand (8,000) hours of full-time experience under the supervision of a licensed master electrician, plus 576 hours of related instruction, or other approved training verified by a certificate of completion of apprenticeship from any bona fide, registered apprenticeship program of another state.

• Four years' full-time experience under the supervision of a licensed master electrician using the Verification of Employment form, and proof of two years of technical training. If an applicant cannot obtain the required form from the supervising licensed electrician, tax form W-2 showing full-time employment may be substituted at the discretion of the Board. Also, include a letter of explanation as to why the form is not obtainable.

• Submit proof of three years' full-time experience under the supervision of a licensed electrician, master or limited using the Verification of Employment form, If an applicant cannot obtain the required form from the supervising licensed electrician, tax form W-2 showing full-time employment may be substituted at the discretion of the Board. Also, include a letter of explanation as to why the form is not obtainable.

• Proof of four thousand (4,000) hours of full-time experience under the supervision of a licensed electrician, master or limited, plus 288 hours of related instruction, or other approved training verified by a certificate of completion of apprenticeship from any bona fide, registered apprenticeship program of another state.

• Submit notarized application and fee made payable to " State of Delaware."
• Submit proof of general liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000.00 and errors and omissions insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000.00.
• Inspection agencies must submit the names of its employees who are inspectors and proof of compliance with the statutory requirements for inspectors. Inspectors must have seven years of experience in residential, commercial, or industrial wiring. Proof of experience shall be submitted on the Verification of Employment form, a tax form W-2, or tax Schedule C.
• Each inspector shall also submit a passing score for the Electrical one and two family dwelling and the Electrical General examinations within 18 months of employment and the Electrical Plan Review examination within 24 months of employment.
