Information About Renewals for All Licenses
Dentist, Dental Hygienist and Anesthesia licenses expire on May 31 of even years (e.g., 2008, 2010). Dentist Limited licenses expire June 30 each year.
Several weeks before your license expiration date, a renewal notice will be mailed to you. This notice will explain how to access the online renewal application. To complete the online renewal application, you must use a credit card to pay your renewal fee. The notice will also explain how to request a paper renewal application if you are unable to renew online.
Please keep your contact information in our records up-to-date so that notices we send will reach you. To check and update your contact information online, click here.
Note : To renew a Dentist controlled substance license, you must file a separate application with the Delaware Office of Controlled Substances.
Continuing Professional Education and CPR
Dentists are required to complete 50 hours of continuing professional education (CPE). Dental Hygienists are required to complete 24 hours of CPE. The Continuing Education Reporting form is due March 1 of the renewal year. A percentage of licensees will be randomly selected for audit of their CPE.
Both Dentists and Dental Hygienists are also required to submit a copy of a current CPR certification card.
See Section 6.0 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations for more information about renewal requirements.
How to Renew a Lapsed License
If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will expire. It is illegal to practice while your license is expired.
You may renew a license for a period of one year after the expiration date by submitting a renewal application online, paying a late fee, and submitting the required CPE documentation and CPR card. However, if the license has been lapsed for more than one year, you must reapply as a new applicant or by reciprocity. |
