Dental Resident


When to Apply

If you are to start a residency program in Delaware, you need to apply for a Dental Limited-Resident License. This license allows you to practice dentistry only in the location designated on the license while under direction of a licensed dentist employed by the location. Licenses are valid for one year and may be renewed.

Applying for Licensure

Submit the following:

  • Completed, signed and notarized application.
  • Processing fee by check or money order made payable to the “State of Delaware”
  • Proof of appointment as a dental intern in a hospital or other institution maintained by Delaware or in a hospital or dental infirmary incorporated under Delaware law
  • Official transcript from a Board-recognized college or university, sent directly from the school to the Board office, showing that you attended for at least two years
  • Official transcript from a Board-approved dental college, sent directly from the school to the Board office
  • Copy of a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification card
  • If you have a criminal record, arrange for Board office to receive copy of your criminal history record.
