Applying for a License
Submit:
- completed, signed and notarized application from each person involved in the business.
- Processing fee by check or money order made payable to the "State of Delaware"
- copy of Federal Firearms license
- copy of business license from Division of Revenue
- certified criminal background check from the State Bureau of Identification for all persons who own or are employed by the business. Call (302) 739-2134 for more information.
- current list of employees that includes
- names
- former names used
- dates of birth
- physical descriptions
- social security numbers
- photograph of each person involved in the business
Requirements Following Issuance of License
- When the license has been issued, you must also register with the Delaware State Police Headquarters, State Bureau of Identification. Call (302) 739-2134, for information about firearms registration
- The required list of employees and the attachments are confidential but must be available at the primary place of business at any time during regular business hours for inspection by any police officer of the State of Delaware or any political subdivision of the State, within the officer’s jurisdiction.
- Annual criminal history checks must be completed and included in each employee's file annually (24 Del. C., Chapter 9, § 904 (b)) .
- You must keep a separate log for inspection on all deadly weapons (handguns).
